how bazaar, also heidelberg

today i went with my wife and son to the russell bazaar at the r.i.c. in detroit, with the ever knowledgable chris butterfield as our tour guide. i took some pictures while i was there, but some of them were utterly terrible because of the zoom on my phone. here is what i could salvage (cropped so they don't break tables i hope):

-here is a shot of one of the alleys w/ vendors

-these are stellar planetary scenes spraypainted and mixed in layers

-some guy using charcoal

-i just liked this sign for some reason

after traversing the outer area and being subjected to several terrible bands, we explored the inner buildings. most were set up as small galleries, showcasing photography or acting as studios for artists. i didn't get any pictures of those. instead i took a few snapshots of the other building, which was like gibralter trade center. a couple of things intrigued me:

-a fur bikini for some reason.

-generic (not ipod) "mp4" players.

once receiving my fill of patchoulli scented vendors we took our leave. purposely guiding us down mt elliot, chris directed us to the heidelberg project, a block sized art community with some strange but unique artifacts. took some photos, but if you want to know more about it click the link or google tyree guyton.

Actually, those are some nice pics.

I ended up talking to Carl Oxley later that night about commissioning his art for the Center. It looks good.

Call those numbers?

Thanks for the post, I've seen the Heidelberg Project many times over the years but was a bit curious over the new bazaar.
